Confirmation

Confirmation marks a significant time of spiritual enrichment in the life of 7th through 10th grade youth. It is a period of specific instruction in the basic principles of the Christian faith as confessed in the teachings of the Lutheran Church.

Confirmation instruction at Calvary takes place September through May, each Wednesday evening, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in Bethany Hall beginning with a light meal and concluding with Prayer at the Close of the Day. The curriculum is based on a three year rotation which includes Old Testament, New Testament, Luther’s Small Catechism & The Life of Luther. The format for teaching includes a large group presentation followed by small group discussion facilitated by adult leaders.

Confirmation Sunday at Calvary currently happens in early October for 10th grade youth. It marks the formal completion of this three year period of instruction in the Christian faith. Those who complete this program were made members of the Church in Baptism. The Rite of Confirmation on Confirmation Sunday includes a public profession of the faith into which these 10th grade youth were baptized, thus underscoring God’s action in their Baptism.

Summer Opportunities

Each summer Calvary offers opportunities for youth to grow in their faith through mission work or other experiences.

Annual 50s Drive-in Fund Raiser: This years event will be held Sunday, June 26th from 4:30 – 7:00pm in Calvary’s parking lot. Rain location – Bethany Hall.

Youth Fellowship Opportunities

Calvary offers fellowship opportunites for youth throughout the school year such
as ski/snowboarding trips, bowling nights, lock-ins, and youth gatherings. In the
summer, typically on Thursday evenings, Calvary participates in church league
softball that is open to youth and adults 13 years and up.
